Managing Partner
Mazen is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Foundation Ventures.
Under his leadership, Foundation Ventures has built a proprietary, talent-led origination model that identifies exceptional founders before they incorporate, and has backed 14 companies across multiple sectors. Mazen leads the firm's investment process end to end, from thesis development and due diligence through investment committee, term negotiation, and close.
Before Foundation Ventures, Mazen was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Zilla Capital, one of Egypt's fastest-growing investment banks, advising founders, family-owned businesses, and institutional investors on capital raising, M&A, and strategic transactions. He began his career in investment banking at EFG Hermes, covering financial institutions, healthcare, and education, and executing M&A, IPO, debt capital markets, and private placement mandates, including cross-border transactions.
Alongside his investing career, he has founded and exited two businesses.
Mazen serves on the board of Maridive & Oil Services (EGX: MOIL), one of Egypt's leading listed offshore oil services companies. He also represents Foundation Ventures on the board of Flextock.
Mazen earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Finance from the John Molson School of Business.
Senior Associate
Katherine is a Senior Associate at Foundation Ventures.
Prior to joining Foundation Ventures, Katherine worked as a Senior Consultant at ReD Associates based in Copenhagen, where she created growth strategies for clients across sectors in the U.S. and Europe. She also gained operational experience at Hive, a San Francisco-based AI startup, where she owned the end-to-end delivery of client engagements on the company's data platform.
Katherine is a Dream VC Fellow and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Chicago with Honors.
Analyst
Wael is an Analyst at Foundation Ventures.
Prior to joining Foundation Ventures, Wael worked in capital advisory at Nassau Street Partners, advising companies on fundraising mandates across multiple sectors. He also gained investment experience at Tech Horizons Ventures, a Saudi-based venture studio focused on building and investing in technology businesses, and Lantern Ventures, an Egypt-focused investment management firm managing the portfolios of Shark Tank investors.
Wael holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the American University in Cairo, graduating with Highest Honors.
